Lindsey + Daryl

I love engagement sessions. I get to know my couples and learn a little about their lives, their love, and their personalities. It always helps to loosen us all up for the big day. The couple is comfortable with me, and they know how I work. Lindsay and Daryl had never been to Sioux Falls, but they wanted an adverture and drove 4 hours to meet me New Year’s Eve day. We did a mini-tour around the city, highlighting history, architecture and snow. I love Sioux Falls, and I really miss living there, so it was fun to show off “my city” even though I am far away in Pierre now.

I am excited for their wedding, knowing they will try anything, be a blast to work with, and the photos will come easy.

Carolyn + Peter : 12.30.05

My last wedding of the year. Phew. Wow. 28 Weddings in all this year!

Well, Carolyn wanted snow, and she got the most beautiful, gorgeous snow a bride could want. As we drove into Brookings, the trees were covered, literally blanketed with snow. It looks like a postcard. Although it was still cold, there wasn’t any wind, and you might have thought we stepped into a painting it was all so perfect.

A fun group, who made for a fun day.
Congrats Carolyn and Pete. Get warm in Mexico.

Merry Christmas!

Another fantastic year… a few highlights from this weekend.

Pryce with his first present of the year.

Fun with Black Lighs (Dwayne and Shalina)

Grandma Blue, Eian and Kaiden
(Ok it’s really Grandma Green, but one time Somer called her Grandma Blue because of her blue suit and now it’s Grandma Blue not Green)

Kara

Kara was the sweetest little girl! Her dad planned a photo session as a surprise for her mom for Christmas. I held back sharing these photos with you blog readers since the photos were a gift to her mommy. Mom has the photos now, and apparently she cried. What a wonderful thing to hear, and what a beautiful gift to receive.

Ogren Family

Dwayne and I took a jaunt to a ranch near Wessington Springs. The Ogren Family owns Echo Valley Ranch, a pheasant lodge. The weather didn’t cooperate the best, but we made the most of it and I think we had great results. As kindly as we were treated during our short visit, I can imagine quests to their lodge are in for a fantastic time.

Kerri + Kevin : 12.17.05

Wow. It was cold. Nothing like two people in love to warm you up. It was a whopping 10 degrees on Saturday in Aberdeen, but we had fun. The bride was beautiful, and the reception a little wild. The rendition of Makin’ Whoppie had me laughing all the way home.

How often do you think it happens that the bride and groom get married on their parents’ anniversaries? I am not talking one set of parents, but both sets! I am betting it is very rare. Kerri and Kevin’s parents were both married in 1966, both on December 17th. One set in Minnesota, the other in North Dakota. Someone said it was 65 degrees in North Dakota that day. They had their albums at the reception and it was wondeful getting to look at the photos from that day nearly 40 years ago.

I think it’s a beautiful sign of things to come for Kerri and Kevin.

Congratulations and keep warm!
