Kim + Chad 09.24.05

I had a rare occassion to shoot in Pierre this weekend. High school sweethearts Chad and Kim let me document their day. Simple, yet elegant, the wedding introduced the world to fall through the choice of color. While the day was over cast and on and off sprinkling, we still managed to sneak away to the capital for a wedding shot I believe is the first of it’s kind!

I have a new assistant who’s been along for my last 4 weddings. Shalina is actually my younger sister, and shows great interest in what I love! She is a great help carrying equipment, fetching things, holding reflectors, and being there for any other thing I need. One of the perks of her jobs is she also can shoot when I don’t have her busy with other tasks. We talk alot about composition, and the technical aspects of photography. I do believe, however, that photography depends mostly on talent and love. Shalina is showing the love for photography, and apparently has some talent too! This image immediately struck me, but I must give credit where credit is due… This one came from Shalina. Great shot!

The Boys

I have the privlege, or unfortunate, experience of being married to an “Anderson Boy”. My husband is the oldest of three boys who are famously known in our hometown. The are often refered to as the “Anderson Boys” because many people either can’t tell them apart, or can’t remember who is who!! Us sister-in-laws often find ourselves referring to them as “the boys” when talking about them as a group. Even at 30, 27, and 25 they are still boys… at heart at least.

Now we have a new set of “boys” in the past 2 1/2 year, 5 new “Anderson Boys” have been born! Here is a photo of the three closest.

Drayson, 14 months, Ayden, 24 months, and Pryce, my son, 20 months.

I love watching them play together. Just last night Ayden and Pryce got in their first real fight. I am sure the years to come wil contain many days as best friends, and many as worst enemies. Just as their fathers have had. In the end, the days of “Best of Friends” always win, and I am sure that will hold true for our new boys too.

Katy + Garrett : 9.10.05

After one of the longest drives of the year, I was met with 40 mph wind, and a couple completely in love. It was great getting to be there to share with them.

We fought the heat, and found a beautiful private home that offered an abundant amount of locations for photography. We cannot thank them enough for allowing us into their home.

I enjoyed the conversation with the bridal party, and got to know them a bit. Many of whom I will meet again next month in Minnesota for the wedding of Paige… personal attendant of the bride, and bride to be herself.

PS. Thanks again Mrs. Overman… my husband cleaned up the cheesecake in one day!!

Thank you to those who have shown concern.

I want to take a moment here to thank everyone who has emailed, or asks about my mother-in-law.

We just returned from Minneapolis after her final round of chemotherapy. She is doing wonderfully, and I am quite surprised at how well she has been. Her spirits seem high, and being here with her family has got to be an emotional boost. Friday she had gained weight, and her test results were wonderful.

She will have nine weeks to enjoy until she goes back to the doctor in Minnesota to see how successful the chemo was, and to see if the cancer has progressed.

Please continue to send prayers. I know she appreciates them. Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts during this difficult time.
