Jill and Rick :: Wedding at the Little Stone Church

A few years ago I read an article in South Dakota Magazine about the Little Stone Church at Firesteel. I am kind of a history junkie, so I love learning about old, historic things. There were beautiful photographs of the church by photographer Greg Latza  See this one. Anyway, I am kind of full of that type of random knowledge. When Jill inquired about shooting her wedding there, I was beyond excited. In case you don't realize, the church is 14 miles on a gravel road, followed by 4 miles down a dirt road. I mean dirt as in two ruts through a pasture. There is no electricity, running water, or heat. Being October, in South Dakota, it's hit or miss on the weather. We got hit. It rained most of the month it seemed and the day of the wedding it was freezing temps. Jill was a determined bride, however, and wanted that wedding at that church. And as we know how brides are, that was it. I will admit that I was worried she'd change her mind. We didn't even know if the road would be passable. If you know me, you know I"ll do anything, go anywhere, and love a new adventure and challenge. So, off we went and the wedding was absolutely beautiful. The church, though tiny in size, was big on impact. Guests were not detered and there was standing room only.Truly a testimate to how much they are loved. jolly1jolly-279
